Professional & Education:
Mike Jedlicka worked throughout his college career, and after college began a job with Land O’Lakes of Ft. Dodge, IA as an agronomy rep for northeast Nebraska. After 3 years in the agriculture industry, he changed direction and moved into the steel industry. He started his lifelong career with Norfolk Iron and Metal Co. on January 1st, 1974. He began as an assistant to the owner as company coordinator, and soon moved to the inside sales desk for three years. He was promoted to Operations and became VP- Company Operations by the mid 80’s. After more than 20 years in operations he was promoted to Vice President of Sales. In 2014, he moved to Vice President of Customer Relations. He has worked at Norfolk Iron & Metal Co in Norfolk, NE for the past 41 years. He attended the University of Nebraska- Lincoln from 1965-1969 in an Ag Law Program, graduating with Bachelor of Science Agronomy Degree, with a minor in English.
Community & Philanthropy:
After 41 years at Norfolk Iron & Metal Co, Mike will be retiring this July 1st and will pursue volunteer work with three organizations – Norfolk Catholic Schools, Father Flanagan League Society of Devotion and Habitat for Humanity-Omaha Chapter.
Faith & Ministry:
Mike & Kathy are Roman Catholic, and have always been active in their parish and school leadership positions. Mike has been on the Parish Council as a parish trustee, and Norfolk Catholic School Board, serving as Vice Chairman and Chairman in the ‘90’s. Mike has also served on the Administration/Finance Committee for multiple years in the ‘80’s. Mike first began fund raising in 1984 to install new carpeting for St Mary’s Church in Norfolk, and since has been involved in multiple capital campaigns over the years beginning with the T.E.A.C.H. Campaign in 88-89. Mike is presently serving on Norfolk Catholic Schools Advisory Board, and was the Co-Chairman 2014 Strategic Planning Initiative.
Family & Personal:
Michael grew up on a farm northwest of Schuyler, NE., the sixth of 13 children of Edward E. and Agnes M. Jedlicka. He was a member of Wilson Church Parish, and later a parishioner of St Mary Catholic Church in Schuyler. In April 1970, Mike married Kathleen Dunn of Omaha, and they recently celebrated 45 years of marriage. They moved to Battle Creek, Nebraska, where they were parishioners of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. They moved to Norfolk and joined Sacred Heart Parish in 1974. Kathy and Mike have 2 children, Amanda & Brian. They both attended Sacred Heart Grade School and graduated from Norfolk Catholic High School. Amanda attended DePaul University in Chicago, and graduated with honors, earning a B.A., majoring in English & Communication. She is the Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity-Omaha. Amanda is married to Kelly Brewer and they have one daughter, Lydia, 10. Brian attended Rose Holman Institute of Engineering in Terra Haute, IN, and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a B.S. in Journalism, as well as an MBA in Business Administration. Brian is the Senior Director at KLKN-TV in Lincoln. Brian is married to Hillary and has three children Noah, 12 and Ethan, 8 and Simon age 1. |
